Umm.. Yes it is if you are a frequent flyer ( and not just a frequent debtor who only earns points from credit cards )

The cost of award flights on AAdvantage is so much better than using Qantas scheme

e.g. For an return award flight from Sydney - London

Using Qantas points to fly it costs 124,000 in economy, 248,000 in business and 384,000 in 1st plus will have abput AUD350 in fuel fines plus taxes

Using AAdvantage points to redeem on the same flights, it will cost 90k in economy, 120k in business and 160k in 1st plus taxes but NO fuel fines to pay

It is cheaper for a 1st award with AA points than it costs to upgrade from economy to business ( 192,000 points ) using Qantas points

It is possible to earn points from debting when using Diners Club or American Express, just not from cards such as Mastercard or Visa

Hard to see how AAdvantage is not really a a thing for Australians
