Anyone know whether an agent can/will open up XF space in accommodating a schedule change?

I definitely appreciate the insights of those posters advising DEN because of the great connection time in SFO. However, I've found two suitable alternate transpac flights out of LAX that same evening, so in a worst case scenario, I hope that would be an option. It would be a great help to take the later flight out of MSY.
