Help

I have read through many pages of this thread. There is so much information. I currently have a Capital One Miles card. Last summer they changed the redeeming miles amounts. I am not happy with their new system so am looking for a new card. Can someone explain to me how airline tickets are redeemed. I have read that it is 25,000 points for a ticket within the US. Then I read that it was based on miles. I haven't found anyplace yet on Citi website explaining it. Also, do I understand I have to use their travel agency to book or expedia? I guess this means no booking a Southwest or Jet Blue ticket? I guess one good thing (maybe the only) with Cap One is that you can book your own flight and then redeem once the ticket shows on their website. However now they have price tiers. Anyway, thanks in advance for any input!
