If a flight is less than an hour and half you will not see a difference in the speed of a ARJ vs a CRJ or for that matter a DC9 or A320. If a flight is longer then an hour you will “usually” go to a higher altitude. At the higher altitudes speed is referenced by MACH numbers the difference in cruise speeds of .73 to .84 is about 25 mph. I believe and some please correct me if I’m wrong but the Avro tops at .73 mach. The CRJs are always flight planed to cruise at .74. Bottom line is don’t believe all the hype about the AVRO being slow. But if you cant get over the fact that it might go 5 mph slower then be happy that the cabin is always quieter the slower you fly.
