Strangely it had preassigned me seats both ways, and on ba.com allowed me to change the outbound (think it booked into Y) before I put in my EC number. Is that part of the new policy ?

Something to bear in mind when looking at flights on aa.com - the fare basis that it shows does not always correlate to the booking class
