I have started shifting some of my large purchases from the SPG Amex to other cards. The SPG Amex still provides reasonable value, but there are cards with better earning potential out there. Like everybody else, I am upset about the drastic point devaluation. That being said I realize that it is us people that spend a lot of money on credit cards that are to blame. When I earn 30,000 points per month on a SPG Business Amex, I am ruining the program for people who earn their points through stays. I could stay a month in a Sheraton and not earn 30,000 points. I think that the guy who earns most of his points through stays is really getting screwed. I contiunue to use the program as it benefits me, but I do feel sorry for Starwood's loyal guests.
