The Nokia n95 is also small and quadband GSM + WCDMA 2100mhz.

Look at the prepaid simcard from 09.is. They give you an Icelandic number with free incoming calls in Japan and Korea. Callbackworld will sell you a US 800 number for $1 a month with a call forwarding option to the 09 SIM for US$0.15 a minute. Voicestick.com had a free US number which could forward to Icelandic mobiles for something like $0.18 a minute. I haven't double checked the Voicestick rates recently.

You can also rent a phone cheaply in the airports in Korea or Japan which will take a US SIM card. Rental SIMs are also available. In Japan, a foreigner really cannot buy a prepaid SIM. Recently regulations require you to have proof of Japanese residency to get one. This wasn't the case a year ago.
