YVR Fast Track not so Fast - What is The Policy?
Domestic Fast-Track at YVR was painfully slow yesterday at about 1pm, as loudly noted by some Es/SEs standing behind me in the queue.
I noted that a lot of people in wheelchairs, on crutches, and with small children were in the Fast Track line. I couldn't help but wonder if they were there only because security diverted them there to help them out. Obviously they could all have been E/SE/J (although this is unlikely).
While I fully appreciate the need to help these folks who obviously need some support, this move also challenges the purpose of Fast Track. Fast Track doesn't move faster just because it is exclusive and therefore "shorter". A Fast Track line of equivalent length to a "standard" security line will usually move faster because it is full of frequent travellers who know to have their metal in their bags, laptops out, jackets off, etc...
Is this standard policy? If so, how do FT'ers feel about it? Also if so, is there a better solution? And before anyone calls me an uncharitable b*****d, I'd like to note that I don't feel strongly either way.
