I would suggest that that is the exception rather than the rule - I have rarely in my experience found UA to be competitive on LON-SYD in ANY cabin.
Having said that, perhaps there has been a change in UA, because in trying to evidence my point, I checked expedia.co.uk for mid May, and for the first time that I can remember...
