Sorry to hear about your trouble.
I had similar issues when doing phone or online check-in with
LX (when the Adobe PDF BP was garbled): had to beg at each
gate to be let aboard. So I feel with you.

You aren't - LH
never lets weero check in via the phone.
They either can not see me, the ticket number/locator is invalid,
it's too early to check in and 2 hours later the flight is under
gate control...
