Thanks for the reply.

The last time I carried a laptop through BKK, the guy ahead of me in the security line asked "do I have to take out my laptop?" and was told "yes" -- so I followed suit. But when I went through security again two hours later (having gotten lost and ended up going in and out of the sterile area), I just left it in my bag and no one said anything. Every other airport I've been in that requires laptops to be removed has signs at the checkpoints instructing pax of the policy, but not at BKK...I have no idea whether there actually IS a policy.
