How on Earth would there have been any ground crew? You made an emergency landing in the middle of the night to a destination that BA doesn't even fly to. Sounds like the situation was handled very well under the circumstances. Your safety was put first, you were fed and put up in a hotel with phone calls. Could have been a lot worse IMHO.
