That's standard for many Alamo/National locations.

IME, that's normally what it means if the agent is super-adamant about selling you the upgrade; stand your ground and you get the upgrade for free.

Um, we're talking about Priceline bids here...you don't know which company you get until your price is accepted, and you certainly can't use discount codes!

I have never had any problems with Priceline bids w/Hertz, Budget, or Alamo - all three have done perfectly at least once. The only problematic Priceline rental I had was with Avis, where I returned the car early and their computer automatically charged me the day rate even though the rental was prepaid. I got it sorted out with the customer service folks, but it was a hassle.
