Tell you what I'd love to read... someone experiences trying to live a normal life in the US for a year without carrying their ID. They'd have to do it in a state that doesn't have ID carry laws, but I hope someone does it and writes about it. It would be a hell of a read.
Are there states with with valid ID carry laws? I thought the the case that Edward Lawson took to the US Supreme Court invalidated those laws.
I was under the impression that you had to verbally identify yourself to a law enforcement officer if requested, but that you could not be compelled to produce identification unless you needed to prove that you were a licensed driver, fisherman etc if you were driving, fishing or whatever.
