Which airline were you on? UA and NW are theoretically required to do this to comply with TSA regulations (or else just confiscate and throw away your liquids), but it would be surprising if a non-US carrier went through this silliness.

Were you carrying large items like duty free bottles, or just the usual small toiletries? I'll be transiting through BKK from Europe next week and would like to carry EU-purchased duty free liquor onto my TG flight to SGN. This was never a problem in the past, but, as posters on this thread have noted, the current rules at BKK seem to be both vague and inconsistently applied.

The Changi website has very clear descriptions of what can be carried on flights from SIN to various destinations, while the Suvarnabhumi website has no section on security procedures, instead focusing only on how great the airport is and how much overpriced junk you can buy from King Power -- I guess they don't really care whether you get it onto your flight as long as you buy it!
