It's been a long time since I've been on a National Express bus. It's not horribly uncomfortable, but I would not want to spend over three hours on one. Personally, I really don't like travelling on a coach.
The train would be more amenable to relaxing, have more space for hand luggage, plus you can walk about, use tables for work (MML has at seat power), use the buffet car etc.
