I just wanted to also recommend finding a good place for a rijsttafel meal. It's a fun dining experience. Unfortunately, I can't remember a good place we went to during our first trip to Amsterdam. However, during our last trip, we tried Indrapura and we were pretty disappointed. The variety was nice but overall the food generally tasted like buffet quality (like they had heating trays of the dishes in back and just plopped portions onto smaller plates).
