My Thai friend took the train/ferry to meet me on Samui (I had flown from the US-->BKK-->Samui). It was a long trip, but he didn't complain.
Sorry but I must disagree.I happen to like train travel,and the first class express trains in Thailand are good.You leave Bangkok at night and arrive in Koh Samui the next afternoon.There are travel agencies in Bangkok where you can purchase the whole package,train,bus and ferry.
