What usually works for me is to keep a firm grip on my bags and don't make eye contact. I travel light - one smaller checked bag and my laptop bag. Doesn't work so well if you actually need porters.
In situations like this, it's often better to pay for car service. If it's a hotel service or a respectable agency, the driver will run interference.
