YYZ-MAD was once served by AC in the mid-late 90's I believe. It also operated to LIS if I remember correctly.

I imagine the fact that AC had no direct competition and stopped the routes has nothing to do with the fact that no one other than charter operators can make a dime on this route. Both Iberia and TAP had route authority and stopped their non-stop service as well. High pax loads do not always = good yield. Some people just don't get that idea.
