I have to write to tell how I found out about this.
I received an "insert" (I believe in an aadvantage communication) which read:
"Join point.com Gold for $9.99 and earn 2, 250 American Airlines Aadvantage miles!"
Then what you could do at points.com and
"Go to
www.points.com/Gold to earn 2,250 Aadvantage miles today!"
Nowhere on the form does it mention 6 months - totally leads you to believe it's just $9.99.
Well, when I first received it I thought it was a great deal and that I had wanted to check out points.com so I went to the website and the only "deal" there was 1 year at $49.99. I tried filling in the form to see if it would come up but....nothing.
Okay - so I wrote to customer service and explained I had received the insert and how could I get the 2250 miles for the $9.99. I NEVER received a reply but when I checked the website a couple of days later the $9.99 for 6 months promotion was posted. Talk about deceit! I'm sure they saw many people would sign up just for the miles at $9.99 and decided to axe that. Lousy way to do business, in my opinion.
