I guess it's all about personal preference. I normally try to avoid the E90's on my frequent YUL-YEG runs. J in an E90 is a downgrade in J service IMO. No hot meal on any flight over 3 hours is very noticable (many FA's apologize for the lack of a hot meal). I don't ever recall getting hot towel service on an E90 and it at least feels like there is less space to work, especially when someone ahead of you puts their seat back. All minor things, I know, but isn't it the little things that make J more appealing (aside from the bigger seat and more leg room)? Add in the lack of overhead storage and the questions of reliability and it's an easy choice for me.
