Hola,
We made it... mysterious fog of death has burned away, and now I'm sitting in the SFO AC. Apparently as soon as the sun hit the water it just went *poof* and turned everything inside out. And we must have been the first flight turned away, because we definitely gave it a shot before the engines roared and we turned for SMF. AA1958 left LAX about 3-5 minutes before we did and made it.
Personally, I had to cancel all work related activities for today, now going to wait until my flight (and hopefully get a bump... buckets zeroed out). But all in all, not too bad... only a few misconnects, and the people heading to China will still make it. Could've been worse.
Timeline as I remember it:
6:05 pushed back.
6:14 wheels up
*snooze*
7:34 turned for SMF
*snooze*
7:55 landed at SMF
9:17 pushed back
~10:00 wheels up
*snooze*
10:37 deplaned
(Yes, I seriously thought about renting a car at SMF. But I would have missed everything anyway, so I just waited it out).
It was fun... thanks for sharing this experience with me
PS - are Type B vouchers the only vouchers they hand out for VDB, or do I specifically have to ask for them? (I know to avoid free tix vouchers)
