As far as having AA RTW desk make date changes-- they tried that for my BA flights and it screwed up the record (double bookings as BA's systems reverted) Better off calling BA RTW or calling/emailing BA MRU directly.
ExpertFlyer seems to agree with what you said (although they're very hard to read!), I think I misread the rules:

--- CHANGES AFTER DEPARTURE
DATE/TIME CHANGES PERMITTED AT NO CHARGE.
DATE/ TIME/ONEWORLD CARRIER CHANGES ARE PERMITTED WITHOUT REISSUE PROVIDED ORIGIN/DESTINATION/ CONNECTING POINTS AND INVENTORY REMAIN THE SAME.
ROUTING CHANGES OTHER THAN TO DATE/TIME/ONEWORLD CARRIER PERMITTED AT A CHARGE OF USD125.00 PER TRANSACTION.
