A hijacker tried to force an
Air Mauritania plane to go to France 
The pilot diverted to the Canary islands, and announced in French on the PA (since he'd deterimined the hijacker didn't speak French) that he'd do a hard breaking and accelleration upon touchdown; the pax braced themselves but the hijacker didn't. He fell, FA's splashed him with boiling water and the pax jumped the guy and restrained him.
Another hijacking prevented NOT by airport security but by pax and crew. One more reason that it makes no sense to take away our pocket knifes and shoes; the bad guys will get stuff on board anyway, let the pax carry things to use to fight back.
BTW, in the wake of this I bet the TSA bans hot coffee in the galleys, since al Qaeda could use that hot water to attack us, just like the FA's used it on the idiot.
Oh, and the pilots name is Ahmedou Mohamed Lemine- sounds like a Moslem male- we'd better profile him just in case. <NOT>
