This is one of those issues where aircraft cognoscenti love to pick out exceptions. And the sizeable A319 fleet of Easyjet have the overwing exit arrangement of the A320.
Likewise the 747-400. Many say that it's the 747 with winglets. But Japan Air Lines has a proportion of their fleet of them without winglets. Then there is the 747-300, not too many around but that is the one with the extended upper deck like the 747-400, but no winglets. Now Japan Air Lines have some of those as well, and it takes a REAL buff to distinguish those two.
