I will be staying at the St. Francis in San Fran on Sunday the 18th (1 night). I did some searching but the information seems out of date, i'm looking for some help from others that have experience with this hotel as far as getting an upgrade, late check out ect .... any words of wisdom.

I am gold, should I call ahead to request an upgrade, ask when checking in? Better experiences checking in early or late?
