I ensured my 40th birthday was at least 40 hours long.

Had a conventional birthday lunch here first.

Then we flew in the afternoon SYD-HNL ... about 10 hours and drank the plane out of Champagne. Then HNL-YVR, which is 4 or 5 hours IIRC. Also makde a large dent in the bubbly stocks.

Then a few hours in YVR airport for a connection, then to Calgary which is another couple hours flying arriving early evening.

There we were picked up by a friend who was the police roundsman for the Calgary Sun and taken to a party at their place.

That continued on for another 5 hours, and we were the last to leave IIRC around midnight.

Due to the dateline it was still my birthday on their local clock, but I'd woken up 40 hours earlier .. also on my 40th Bithday.
