I would choose option #1 and also indicate the amount of mileage you expect to fly with them. Honesty is the best policy. I would further go on to tell them of the mileage level you have with Delta and that you would prefer to travel with Northwest but that you would appreciate having status with Northwest. <IMG SRC="http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/thumbsup.gif">
I would start all of this effort with a phone call to an elite customer service agent rather than a fax. Someone here at flyertalk should be able to supply you with the appropriate phone number.
