Most of my 777 flights are JFK-LHR, which makes it pretty easy. The seatmaps update early enough that I can switch to a different flight. On a couple of recent LAX-LHR flights I got lucky and got suites, but I certainly would have considered flying LAX-ORD-LHR if need be.
