Back when I was a Westjet flyer, the "we know you have choices" was one of their lines.

Most captains and first officers should not be allowed to touch the PA system - they talk to their customers like they talk to ATC - with a slurred, Americanesque accent that is barely understandable.

When you do get a flight deck crew that is able to communicate, it is very refreshing. It also makes me feel safer as I know they are probably as clear with ATC.

It is also nice to hear that some captains and FO's still provide interesting information like other aircraft, or specific mountains, or cities being overflown. It makes the time pass, and you feel like you are on a tour of your country rather than just getting from A to B. (or, A to B, via C, D, and E if its a mileage run)
