Wouldd you have any flexibility if NWA offered you and your family travel vouchers (good for future travel anywhere NW flies) or 4 free roundtrip vouchers to AMS/Europe in the future for taking a later flight?

I don't know what you will be offered but whatever it is they will also put you up in a hotel, provide meals and give you something to compensate you and your family for the inconvience.

Sometimes if you are traveling as a family of 4 the compensation ($$$$) might be worth it.
