Anyone know how Amtrak handles this type of situation? I'd be interested in any stories. We will be in a Bedroom, but we will bring extra food, just in case.
The website says that some trains are cancelled, and that passengers will be accomodated on other trains, but these are the "regular" Empire Service trains from Albany to Buffalo/Niagara Falls and the Maple Leaf to Toronto. It did not mention the LSL (which travels these tracks to Buffalo), so I expect it to operate, although expect some delays.
As far as extra food, since you're in a bedroom, you don't really have to worry, since all your meals are included. Unless the train gets stopped in a snowbank (not very likely!

) you will get meals at the "normal" meal times. (They plan for delays of reasonable times.) Even if your arrival is scheduled at 9 AM, but because of delays you do not arrve until 2 PM or 7 PM, you will get lunch and dinner also!
You may want to bring snacks with you, but remember there is not much storage room, and no way to refrigirate or heat food. (The attendant may bring you a (small) bucket of ice, but that's it!)
