This kind of occurrence isn't that strange. I had similar late last year when the flight I was on was forced to return to departure airport. Passengers were then put on a bus to the destination, which I could not do - trip in vain. I had been auto-cancelled from 3 onward legs and was fortunate there weren't too many standby pax to keep my flights (albeit I lost my selected seats).
