Its not really a question of being "enforced" I have been told multiple times by AA elite counter check-in CSRs that I am allowed to use the First line.

On a few ocasions that the gatekeeper has started to get a quizzical look by looking at my BP only I show her my Advantage card and have been immediately allowed to pass through.

No real trick involved.
