Maybe it wasn't enforced much. I always see gate agents letting the clueless travelers board with PLAT or Group 1 when their ticket says Group 5. Only about 15% of the time they're told to return and wait. I guess if I worked there and was trying to board 100+ people, I'd figure it's not worth the time to turn them around. That's probably what happened at LAS. I probably went through there 10 times with status and never had a problem.
