Kill time at the gate with the masses after clearing security; yikes! (Just kidding!!!!) There must be some other option; sit in the temporary CX trailer/lounge? Track down an AC; assuming there's one after security (I'll have to check.)?

Seriously though, I am looking forward to this trip. I am interested to see how CX business compares to CO's business first product that I flew to TLV last year. From what I've read here it seems CX should win hands down.
Seats: CX's are more flat, although not full flat until later this year. A few inches of pitch, and a hard-shell.

Service: For me, this is a major differentiating factor. On CO, I never experience good service. Just OK service or very bad service (rude FAs). Given it is not as bad as AA, but on CO some FAs simply do not give customers in premium cabins the respect they deserve. On CX it is the opposite, they will do their utmost to please (90% of the time, anyway ) .

Food: Pretty equal generally. CO serves more food though, being an American airline that's understandable.

Lounges: Both BA Terraces at JFK and The Wing/Pier are vastly superior to any PC out there. If you are only in the J side though I would not specifically choose to spend a lot of time there. I mean, it is nice, there's a reasonable amount of free food and drink, the view is good, it's a comfortable environment, but definitely not an "attraction" in itself, but rather some place to spend maybe 30 mins before your flight. The best of the Wing IMO is The Haven (restaurant) and The Cabanas (relaxation rooms), both of which are on the F side. But overall these are definitely one of the best J lounges out there. I am just warning you because some people think it is some kind of important tourist attraction, and end up disappointed; it is really just a nice airline lounge, but still an airline lounge.
