In my experience the transfer is pretty easy. Just follow the signs. The only issue I saw was checking in at the AA connection counter- it is stuffed in a corner and was very crowded when I went by. If you have access to AC (by status or fare etc) - check in there.

No experience on AA to JL, only JL to AA.
