Even better than a gym would be an emergency sleeping area. The thought occurred to me when I was stranded overnight at ORD due to a missed connection. So many people were stranded that night that all the nearby hotels were booked and I ended up at a dismal little motel off in the middle of nowhere.

You could have recliners (old business class seats?) with clean pillows and blankets and noise-cancelling headphones or earplugs given to each customer. For less than the price of a hotel (charged by the hour), people could get a few hours' sleep at any time of the day or night.

For budget travelers in particular, it would be better than the alternatives of paying for a motel you can't afford or bedding down on the hard floor.
