I was one of the performers who opened up CME 11 years ago (my how time flies.)

CME cost somewhere between $40-70 million, so it's really expensive to tear down. There were constant rumors about turning it into a nightclub. And they made good on their threat. Currently it's the Pussycat Doll Lounge.

I haven't been inside to see what they've done, but the structure is still there- you can see it as you drive by. Remember the Sanctum Secorum- the big rotunda area? From the Strip it's a dome, and it can still be seen if you know what you're looking for.

In case it wasn't obvious, you never really went below ground. Inside the casino, it's still right next to the sports book and Bobby Flay's restaurant (which used to be the Palatium Buffet).

Ironically, part of the reason CME didn't do so well was lack of foot traffic- the entrance was in a skeevy backwater of the casino. Now the entrance is in a high foot traffic area where guests could be enticed to enter, and there's no show. Sad, but that's just one of the MANY executive-level problems with that place.
