Yes, so as the prices drop the surcharge will promptly go away, right?
Again, it's marketing. Fare prices change about as frequently as I change my shorts so they can simply adjust the fares as operating costs change. "Fuel surcharge" is more palatable to the public because we all fill our cars and know how awful gas prices are. Why not just make some basic ticket price and have everything be a surcharge? As labor rates go up we get a labor surcharge, catering surcharge, repainting surcharge, etc. What a bunch of hogwallop.
