GOV rates are one of the most mis-used rates out there.
I agree about the Gov rate being one of the most misused out there, but as a government employee (not a contractor), I'm required to pay my travel charges up front and submit them for reimbursement per our Finance Department's schedule. I've been asked on a few occasions for my government ID, which I have all the time. One hotel requires their CSR's to copy my ID and attach it to the folio.
