If they really needed, there is a long list of people waiting for the call to become Controllers - Most who already have a Bachelors Degree from an approved Aeronautical College/University Program.
The real problem is FUNDING! They won't hire more controllers because it's more staff and payroll. If they were smart, they would hire a few more to reduce overtime pay.
