I'm sorry, I was unable to locate information on my specific situation in these threads. They all seem to say that the miles must come from an elite account, but like I said, the policy isn't in affect till March 1st.

The reason I would like to upgrade, even though i'm gold, is because seats in first are filling up and I would like to be guaranteed a seat in first because 1. My sister is already confirmed and I would like to sit with her 2. I want to be sure to get the upgrade because it's international configuration.
