To my surprise, this past week, I had no success at all getting HP agents to even see, much less change, my US flights. I had five itineraries that each involved HP and US metal, and each one of them got screwed up because of cancellations. I wasted 15 minutes waiting for and talking to an HP agent at a customer service desk in Phoenix. He was adamant that I was not booked on a US flight, not believing what I said, until I put him on my cell phone with the CP desk. And even then, he could do nothing about helping me and sent me to the gate to see if they could help. I was not at all impressed with the abilities of the agents I dealt with in PHX, SAN and LAS, even when I had problems with HP flights. And I was given a lot of bad information by them.
