Need NWA Booking Advice
I am in need of some advice, and I figured that this is the best place to get it. I am a WorldPerks member, although it has taken me about a decade to get over 12,000 miles, because I don't exactly have an abundance of discretionary income.
Here is my situation: I live in Minnesota, closest to MSP. My sister lives in Canada (AB), closest to YEG. My 13-year old nephew has just made it to the finals in Alberta's figure skating championship, and despite his years of training, I have never seen him skate. I would very much like to fly up there and see his competition on the weekend of March 2-4, 2007.
I can't afford a ticket, but as luck would have it, NWA credited me an ECV in 2006, due to a very unfortunate flight situation in December 2005. The ECV expires on April 5, but I've been saving it for a special occasion, and this seems to be it. (I don't fly very often, so I need to justify each trip very carefully).
Now, here's where I need the advice: I would like to bring my boyfriend along on this trip. My ECV states (rule # 10): "An ECV can only be applied to one ticket per reservation (even though my ECV's value would be enough to cover both of our tickets). An ECV may be used by a different person as long as the original recipient is traveling with that person in the same reservation." OK, I'll find a different way to buy a second ticket.
This is where WorldPerks comes in. According to the information online, I can get a RT ticket to Canada for just $189, if I cash in 10,000 of my miles. Fine - I can do that.
But, I tried to use nwa.com to book a reservation for 2 adults from MSP to YEG (RT), from March 1-4. One using the ECV, and the other using Cash + Miles. I couldn't get it to work, so I called WorldPerks for reservations. She balked because we want to come home on a Sunday. But if we come home Saturday, we'll miss the finals in the competition (the whole reason for the trip), and we can't come home Monday, due to work schedules.
Based on all the factors I've listed, is there any way to do this?
