Had a Nice Overnight Stay
I spent a couple of nights in Long Island this week and decided to try both the Sheraton Long Island and the Four Points. Must say I preferred the Four Points. Stevekoe did a pretty good breakdown of the Pros and Cons but thought I would add my update.
Got one of the best Platinum welcomes every. Status was recognized immediately at check in. I was handed an envelope from the manager welcoming me to the property and giving me a wooden token for a free drink at the bar. I was also given a card for a free breakfast. Was told I was upgraded without even asking. The Preferred Guest room was on the first floor. I was nervous that the room faced the LIE but truth is with the air handler on I did not even hear the cars. Room was large and the bathroom looks like it was just renovated and very modern.
I ordered room service since there are no nearby options. Your average Sheraton menu but the lobster bisque was pretty good.
The breakfast is very nice. Full hot selection including omelets made to order. Definitely a nice feature and obviously added since the last review.
When I am in the area I have the option of the Garden City Hotel at a reduced rate. I want the stay credits and points though so I will choose the Four Points as it was not the negative experience I was expecting.
One last thing to note. This hotel seems to be sold out a lot. I had to invoke the Platinum guarantee when booking which I new would come out to about $220. I noticed a couple of days later that availability had opened up. Checked my reservation and the rate had already adjusted to about $150.
