Since rolling out the new Club World cabin in late November, British Airways now has four aircraft fitted with
www.newclubworld.com with new beds and Video on Demand throughout the aircraft and will complete another three by the end of the January.
By the end of February a total of twelve aircraft will have the new cabin installed, an average of three per month, with production scheduled to ramp up to five aircraft per month for the rest of the year.
At the same time the 767 longhaul fleet is having AVOD installed (no new cabin for these planes), presently five of these have AVOD fitted, and another two coming online by the end of February.
These 767s fly the AA codeshare to MAN, though all the refitted planes are LHR based, they do swap them out every few months, so there should be increased likelihood of being able to earn AAdvantage miles on an AVOD equipped 767 (AVOD will be in all cabins, not just Business Class) transatlantically in the coming months.
BA flies a total of 21 767s (most on medium/shorthaul), 57 747s and 43 777s. It should therefore take approximately 18 months from end Feb to equip the remaining 777/747 fleet at five per month - so completion August 2008 on current projections, though likley to be sooner.
