Does American any obligation to compensate me for this ?? I have been re-routed to Cancun (that is my final destination) via Chicago... and I need to fly a couples of "extra miles"...
Any help and information for my "rights" will be appreciated.
The USA does not have rules like the EU does requiring compensation.
American will provide compensation if the cause of major delay is their fault, getting you to your final destination significantly later than scheduled.
As for the miles, AA will often grant you original routing credit if you call AAdvantage customer service after your trip has posted to your account.
If the cancellation was AA's fault, contact customer relations and they may give you some bonus miles.
