So I have a question, I didn't get my upgrade since i'm using miles to fly and will be flying on a fairly empty flight (most of the mvp seats up front are empty) and i'm currently booked on the exit row window and the exit row isle is taken and the middle seat is free (flight is tomorrow morning)

so, I know that if I book, say 7A (where 7B is free and 7C is taken - which is the current case) I have a pretty good chance of 7B never getting filled by tomorrow (it's not like a standby passenger is going to pick a middle seat when there are tons of windows/isles opened)

now for the question:

Do I have a higher chance of getting the free middle by being in 7A than by being in exit row 15A? Now, sure users prefer exit row seats but 15DEF are all opened so they'd take window/isle before a middle - my only question is, when choosing seats, does the computer like the emergency exit row seats filled for safety reasons? Or do they ever fly empty and it's ok? maybe a FA or someone who works the counter here might know?
